Minta White

Flutist, Improvisor

I am available to teach in-person and online lessons.

Please contact me for more information.

I am a flute teacher with 19 years of experience.  I currently teach lessons in classical music and free improvisation.  I am available to teach private flute lessons, group lessons, workshops, and masterclasses.  Most recently, I have taught flute lessons at Music and Arts in West Hartford, Connecticut, in addition to private lessons in the Hartford/West Hartford area.  I have also previously taught private flute lessons at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, CT.

I have previously taught free improvisation as a guest artist with my colleague Tim Peck at the Pomfret School in Pomfret, CT, where we ran an improvisation lab with students in the Arts Immersion Course.  As guests artists, Tim Peck and I have also taught a seminar class at Longy School of Music of Bard College for the Jazz and Contemporary Music department.

Previous students have won First Place in the Musical Club of Hartford's High School Music Competition, achieved high scores in their CMEA Regional and All-State auditions, and have successfully been accepted to various ensembles, including the Hartt Community Division's Harmony Winds.

I believe it is important for students to experience different genres of music to find their own musical voice.  I love music, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge with my students.   A musical life is very rewarding!

Students ages 8 to adult accepted.  Beginner, intermediate, and advanced students welcome.

Lessons in improvisation are also offered for interested students.
